The lawmaker representing Kogi west at the Senate, Dino Melaye, has accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of owning illegal account with N34.4 billion balance.
NAIJ.com gathered that while citing order 42, Melaye said at the plenary session on Wednesday, February 14, said there was an account found with the name NNPC.
He said that after a verification, the accountant general said they knew nothing about the account and that money has never been paid to the said account.
He said: "Senator Dino Melaye cites order 42 and says that there is an account found with the name NNPC, a verification was made and the Accountant General said they know nothing about the account and money has never been paid to that account.
"However, series of withdrawals have been made from this account and as at today it has shown that N34.4b is the current balance of this account.
In his reactions, the Senate President Bukola Saraki said that Melaye's order would come as a proper motion on another legislative day.
He said: "Senate President @bukolasaraki says Senator Dino Melaye’s order would come as a proper motion on another legislative day."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye, accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of corruption.
He made the allegation on Tuesday, January 23, after he raised a point of order during plenary. Senator Melaye who cited order 42 alleged that the NNPC opened a private account with a new generation bank with no BVN.
