Governor of Zamfara and chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has expressed shocked over an attack on Birane village in Zurmi local government area of the state which left scores dead.
A statement by Aminu Ibrahim Gusau, his spokesperson, said the governor had directed all security agencies in the state to as a matter of urgency intensify more efforts in fighting and apprehending all forms of criminal activities in the state.
The state government further reiterated its commitment to the protection of the people's lives and property and will not take it lightly with any person or group of people found to have a hand in the dastardly actions.
According to the statement obtained by NAIJ.com, the governor further stated that the issue of insecurity had continued to deflect the meager resources meant for the development of our dear state and that it is seriously retarding the effort of the government.
Yari re-emphasised the need for all security agencies in the state to redouble effort for addressing the unwanted and ugly acts.

He said the government and people of Zamfara would remain grateful to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for deployment of more security personnel to the state. He urged residents to be careful and vigilant.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that suspected armed bandits reportedly killed at least 41 people at Birane village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.
It was gathered that in November last year, 24 people were killed and dozens of residential houses torched in attacks on about three communities in Shinkafi local government area of the state.
