- Chelsea duo of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are edging closer to signing a new deal
- Should they sign the new deal, it will put an end to the speculation of both players quitting the Stamford Bridge side
- Both sides could be played against Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday evening
Chelsea fans might breathe a sigh of relief as there are indications that both Eden Hazard and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois are close to signing a contract extension with the Premier League defending champions in a matter of days.
The Belgian duo, who have been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier in the season, had refused to sign the new offer by their employers.
But Hazard has insisted that the Stamford Bridge side must first give his national team compatriot an extension before he would consider further committing his future to the Blues.
Meanwhile, reports emerging from the club suggest that the two players are on the verge of penning a new deal as Hazard was sighted being filmed at the Bridge on Thursday.
The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper also gave the fans a clue he might be staying with one of his posts on Instagram a picture on Twitter - showing the giant No 1 walking into Stamford Bridge - as opposed to out.
Hazard has two more years until his contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2020, while Courtois is contracted to the Blues until 2019 but, of course, it does not change the fact that both players are wanted by the Spanish League giants.
The former Lille of France midfielder scored twice in his side’s 3-0 win over EPL strugglers, West Bromwich Albion, to bounce back from their back-to-back defeat to Bournemouth and Watford.
And he is expected to continue in his scoring form should he be available for selection in their FA Cup encounter against Premiership side, Hull City on Friday evening.
Hazard joined Chelsea from Lille in 2012 in a £31.50 million deal and has scored 68 goals in 197 matches in all competitions.
He was a member of the Blues team that won the Champions League title in 2012, and since then has won two league titles, and one EFL Cup title in 2015.
Prior to his coming to the EPL, he led Lille to a double, winning the French Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France the same year, 2010-11 season.
Who has the better team; Chelsea or Arsenal?
