Four politicians get confirmed as governor’s aides after decamping from PDP to APC

- Four politicians who recently decamped to the APC from the PDP are among five individuals just confirmed as aides to the Zamfara governor

- Two of the new appointees are former commissioners while the other two are former local government chairmen

- They have all been charged to work in line with the state government policies and move the state forward

Zamfara House of Assembly on Wednesday, February 21, confirmed the appointment of five new special advisers to Governor Abdul’aziz Yari, NAN reports.

Their confirmation followed a motion moved by the majority leader, Isah Abdulmumin, who urged the lawmakers to approve the list of nominees.

Legit.ng gathers that four of the five appointees were among defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They recently joined the All Progressive Congress (APC), led by the former governor Mahmud Shinkafi.

The appointees included former commissioners for information, Ibrahim Danmaliki and education, Bashir Walin-kurya.

The others were former chairmen of Gusau and Shinkafi local government councils, Ahmad Muhammada-Bagu and Abdurrahim Bala respectively.

The other nominee, Umar Abba, was the former special adviser to the governor from 2011 to 2015.

The speaker, Sanusi Rikiji, presided over the plenary where the nominees were unanimously approved.

Rikiji charged the nominees to work in line with the state government policies and move the state forward.

In a related development, Legit.ng previously reported that an aide to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state, Jesse William, decamped from the PDP to the APC.

William, who was a special adviser to the governor on job placement, also resigned from his position immediately.

He wrote to the chairman of PDP, Agwagune/Okuri Ward, Agwagune, in Biase local government area, informing him that he was resigning his membership of the party “with immediate effect”.

In the letter, William said he had contributed to the growth of the PDP in the state since his membership of the party in 1999, adding that due to personal reasons he felt the time had come to move on.
