Saraki rejoices as law to stop salaries of ex-govs and deputies is passed in Kwara

Senate President Bukola Saraki has hailed the Kwara state House of Assembly for passing law to stop salaries for former governors and their deputies in the state.
Legit.ng gathered that the state assembly had on Tuesday, February 27, passed the an amendment bill halting payment of pension to former governors, deputy governors and other officers holding political offices after their tenure in office.

The Kwara state house of assembly had on Tuesday, February 27, passed an amendment bill halting payment of pension to former governors, deputy governors and other officers holding political offices after their tenure in office.
Speaking on the law, Saraki said he was happy that the bill was eventually passed into law.
He said: "I am happy that following my conversation with Kwara Speaker, Hon Ali Ahmad, two months ago, the bill to suspend the payment of Pension to former governors and their deputies when they hold a political or public office was passed into law yesterday by the Kwara House of assembly."
Legit.ng checks revealed that the bill is targeted at state governors that are holding political office.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that ex-governors, deputies in Kwara state may no longer be eligible for pensions again. This is as a result of an amendment bill passed by Kwara state house of assembly halting payment of pensions to the former executive members. The bill which was moved by the deputy house leader, Segilola Abdulkadir was unanimously adopted by members.
