Buhari’s visit to Niger: FRSC deploys 300 personnel, 13 patrol vehicles

- The FRSC said it has deployed 300 personnel and 13 patrol vehicles to Niger state

- The state sector commander Garba Yusuf warned drivers to desist from overloading and dangerous driving as anyone found wanting will be sanctioned

The Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC), Niger command, declared that it has mobilised 300 personnel and 13 patrol vehicles to ensure a hitch-free visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state on Tuesday, March 13.

Vanguard reports that the FRSC sector commander in the state Garba Yusuf, disclosed this to newsmen in Minna.

Yusuf said the command had made adequate arrangements to ensure free-flow of traffic in all the routes President Buhari was expected to follow.

He maintained that four patrol vehicles and trucks with sufficient personnel had been deployed to Jebba – Mokwa federal high way; three patrol vehicles for Minna – Bida federal high ways and four for Bida- Mokwa federal high ways.

He also said three patrol vehicles would supervise the personnel deployed for the special assignment to ensure free movement of vehicle during and after the president’s visit.

The sector commander also said that the personnel would be on ground to ensure that road users adhered strictly to traffic rules and regulations.

He, however, warned drivers, especially commercial drivers, to desist from overloading and dangerous driving as anyone found wanting will be sanctioned.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that President Buhari who on Monday, March 12, visited Benue state where rampaging herdsmen have killed about 200 persons in 2017 is said to have cut short the visit.

Security personnel mainly SSS and mobile policemen who spearheaded the blockade of the journalists from covering the visit, gave no reason to justify their action against the journalists.

The president was scheduled to visit the headquarters of exercise Ayem AKpatuma formation in Gbajimba, headquarters of Guma local government area of the state, and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.
