Breaking: Senate begins probe of alleged illegal arming of vigilantes by Governor Bello

The political crises in Kogi state have taken a new dimension with the Nigerian Senate commencing a major investigation into an allegation by Dino Melaye that Governor Yahaya Bello has been illegally arming a local vigilante group.

Senator Dino Melaye, the representative of Kogi west, moved the motion on the floor of the upper chamber citing orders 42 and 52.

According to him, a law established by the Kogi government has given the vigilante group more power than the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) thereby reducing the powers of the latter in the state.
