No hiding place for looters in Nigeria - Magu

- The acting chairman of the EFCC Ibrahim Magu declared that the commission is totally committed to fighting against corruption in Nigeria

- Magu said though the corruption has eaten deeply into the fabric of the country society, EFCC is ready to make a change

- He, however, said all hands must be on deck to save our country from the scourge

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, on Wednesday, March 14, declared that there is no hiding place for looters in Nigeria.

Leadership reports that Magu made this known in Abuja office when he welcomed the leadership of the Print Media Publishers Guild (PMPG) which paid him a courtesy call.

A statement by the Guild’s national publicity secretary, Sunny Davids said Magu reiterated that ''Corruption has eaten deeply into the fabric of the Nigerian society and all hands must be on deck to ensure that we save our country from this scourge.”

Magu said: ''There shall be no sacred cows and the EFCC will not bow to any form of intimidation from any quarter. We are totally committed to this fight against corruption and by God’s grace we must succeed.

“We are excited and happy to work and partner with the Print Media Publishers Guild of Nigeria.

‘’We have taken time to monitor the activities of your Guild in the Media and we are convinced that your activities and reportage is carried out with utmost sense of responsibility and integrity.

''We believe that your Guild is above board and cannot be compromised. This is why we are excited to work and partner with you.''

Earlier, national president of the Guild, Oga Tom had pledged support and solidarity to the EFCC in its fight against corruption.

Tom commended the current EFCC chairman for his efforts so far in the fight against corruption, which according to him, was unprecedented in the history of the nation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Magu promised that the agency will increase the tempo in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Magu called on all media organisations in Nigeria to join the EFCC in championing the task.

Speaking at the Lagos high court where he met with the chief judge, Opeyemi Oke, the EFCC's czar said every Nigerian is responsible for the anti-corruption war.
