Governor disappointed as 4000 PDP decampees fail to appear at rally

- The governor of Jigawa state has been left disappointed by some politicians who allegedly decamped from the PDP

- Mahummad Baduru had expected to receive the 4,000 decampees from PDP to the ruling APC

- He was however disappointed after the supposed new politicians failed to show up at a rally organised by a members of the APC

Four thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who decamped from the party on Sunday, March 18, failed to appear at a rally scheduled by the governor of Jigawa state, Muhammad Baduru.

The governor was present at Birnin Kudu local government area of the state to received the decamped politicians. Baduru however, left the venue of the supposed rally disappointed after the decampees failed to appear.

Premium Times reports that the event was organised by a member representing Birnin Kudu /Buji federal constituency, Magaji Da’u Aliyu.

Activities of the event included the donation of vehicles to party faithfuls and the flag off of a road as well as donate N20 million to students of higher institutions from Aliyu's constituency.

It was also gathered that the leader of the decampees, Danmalam Unguwarya, failed to show up when he was called upon to make his speech on behalf of all his colleagues.

Reacting to the incident, Baduru dispapointed by the turn out of the event and crisis bickered by political thugs in the area, urged party members to emulate his style of politics. He said politics should not be played with bitterness.

Baduru said: “Without unity their collective victory will be at a stake."

He further flagged off the Waurno to Dankoshe feeder road, presented a N20 million prototype cheque to the leaders of the student unions and gave out keys of six vehicles to party officials from his constituency.

Legit.ng earlier reported that over 2,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) decamped to the PDP in Kano state in the past week.

The defection of the party members took place in Sumaila local government area of the state.

The decampees, Legit.ng gathered, were received by an ex-governor of Kano state Ibrahim Shekarau, Aminu Wali and Gambo Salau over complaints of highhandedness within the APC.
