Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Brazil international, Anderson Talisca this summer.

United were favourites to land the attacking midfielder until the Merseyside outfit shown interest in the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, Turkish newspaper Fanatik said that the Anfield side are making the attacker a priority and will do anything to end up signing the player ahead of their rivals.

It was earlier reported that United were close sealing a £35million deal for Talisca, who has already scored 16 goals in all competitions this season.

On the other hand, Brazil legend, Claudio Taffarel claims Liverpool target Alisson Becker is on his way to becoming the best goalkeeper in the world.

The AS Roma goal tender has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid and might not extend his contract with the Serie A side.

Alisson's countryman Taffarel was full of praise for the stopper and believes he is already the stand-out stopper in Italy, ahead of Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon.

"In the time that we worked with him at Internacional and with the national squad, we knew he would reach a high level," he told Omnisport.

"I'll always respect the career of Buffon, who has been brilliant. But I believe that Alisson, as a goalkeeper, is more technical with a different posture.

"He always stands assertively and is confident in what he does. Alisson is really impressive.

"There is more time needed to see if he can reach the top or not, but he has the qualities to stay on top and become the best goalkeeper in the world, without doubt."

Liverpool have been buoyed in their pursuit of Max Meyer, as the players agent has reportedly cancelled a meeting with his current club Schalke .

The Reds are keeping a close eye on the German midfielders situation, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

Meyer has already turned down two fresh offers from his club, and now Schalke president Clemens Tonnies has claimed their planned meeting was called off by his agent.

Speaking to Bild , Tonnies said: “ I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice.

“If someone doesn’t want to talk to me, I cannot change that.”
