Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s announcement that he would seek re-election in the 2019 presidential election, Nigerians across all ethnic, religious and political divides have all been coming up with divergent reactions.
Among those who have reacted is Lauretta Onochie, the special assistant to President Buhari on social media.
Shortly after the announcement, Onochie took to Twitter to register her pleasure for the most anticipated announcement from the president.
She tweeted: “IT'S OFFICIAL. PRESIDENT BUHARI IS STANDING FOR THE 2019 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
WE SAY RUN!
THEY SAY, DON'T RUN
President Buhari has heeded OUR call. He's standing for 2019
THEY FAILED. WE WON.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA.”

Sani Nelson, a Facebook user said the announcement is the best news for him. He, however, urged President Buhari to hand over the presidency to Igbo after the second term.
His post: "The best news i have heard is this, but baba after u let the igbo take over since they are gud industral project."
