Coach Zinedine Zidane likens Ronaldo to Real Madrid great, Di Stefano

- Cristiano Ronaldo's achievement at Real Madrid has qualified him to be ranked along with former Argentinian star Alfredo Di Stefano

- Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane believes the 33-year-old has done more than enough to be compared to the club's greats

- He however says that Galacticos will not forget the Portuguese captain in a hurry whenever he decides to leave the club.

- Ronaldo is the leading goalscorer in the Champions League this year with 14 goals in 9 appearances for Madrid

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is confident that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be forgotten in a hurry - years after he must have quit the club.

The 33-year-old has been superb for Los Blancos this season despite kicking off his campaign on a low with 23 Spanish League goals in 24 appearances.

He is also the leading goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League with 14 goals from 9 games so far, and with at least a goal against Juventus on Wednesday, he would have succeeded holding the top three goal scorer record on the UCL chart.

However, Zidane believes Ronaldo’s achievement at the Santiago Bernabeu qualifies him to be ranked alongside Alfredo Di Stefano according to Real boss.

Di Stefano dazzled at the club during the 1950s and 1960s when they won five European Cups and he scored more than 300 goals.

The Portuguese superstar is on the verge of helping Real win their third straight European title as they take on Italian Serie A side, Juve with a three goals advantage.

"I do not think of playing without Cristiano, we have him and we are happy," Zidane said.

"There are many people who remember Di Stefano, it is normal - many people, and I am one of them, will now remember Cristiano with this club.

"We have him and it is necessary to take advantage of this. All the teams in the world would be happy to have this player."

Except for an upset, the Galacticos will play in the semifinals of this year’s championship next month.

Meanwhile, their form in the domestic league is way beyond impressive as they are 15 points behind Barcelona on the Spanish League table, and were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Leganes.

"The explanation I do not have," Zidane said. "Sometimes this year our consistency has not been very good.

"We have had moments of difficulty, now we are better, but there is no explanation. If you ask me, I have more motivation than I can ever remember to win the league. It is the hardest thing to do, it is what the player wants.

"There are difficult times but in the Champions League, when you look at the trajectory of this club, it is impressive and nobody has reached this level. It is what this club has."

Real have hit a golden patch in recent weeks, losing only one of their last 15 matches and scoring 20 goals in their last seven games.

"When we scored again, with three or four goals, you cheer up, you feel better, you have your confidence back," Zidane said.

"But it annoys me when people say we are favourites in the Champions League. We are a great team but we have won nothing yet."
