Liverpool supporter was attacked by a number of Manchester City fans after celebrating Mohamed Salah’s equalizer at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, April 10.
The Citizens were beaten 5-1 on aggregate by the Reds in the quarterfinal stage of this year’s UEFA Champions League.
Having lost the first leg -0 at Anfield a week ago, Pep Guardiola’s side were all out looking to overturn the result, but their efforts produced just one goal in the first half.
However, two second half goals from the Egyptian forward, and Roberto Firmino ensured the Premier League leaders lost their third straight games in barely seven days in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the Reds fan was reported to have jubilated when Salah pulled one back in the midst of Manchester City’s supporters.
The shocking video footage, which was uploaded on twitter by a fan showed the man being attacked by a number of supporters.
She wrote: “This is what happens when ur [sic] a Liverpool fan in the City family stand and you cheer when you score. What have I just witnessed?”
Although, it was not stated clearly if the man who was attacked was a Liverpool supporter or not, but the scenes compounded City’s woes following a surprising 5-1 aggregate defeat.
Coach Pep Guardiola was given marching order at half time after he appeared to have insulted the referee for some calls he made during the game.
All eyes will now be on Manchester City this weekend as they travel to the Wembley Stadium to battle Tottenham Hotspur in late EPL kickoff on Saturday, April 14.
They remain at the summit of the English topflight table with 13 points better than their City rivals, Manchester United, which came back from two goals down to claim a 3-2 win over their hosts last weekend.
