The city of Offa in Kwara state, was thrown into a state of confusion on Thursday, April 5, as heavily armed men raided some banks and shot sporadically leading to chaos among residents and customers.
Before launching their attacks on the banks, the robbers were said to have invaded the Offa divisional police station on entering the ancient town.
There, they killed some policemen including a female personnel. Numbering about 15, the robbers reportedly arrived the town in different vehicles and also snatched motorcycles to carry out their escape.

No fewer than six policemen and six others, including residents and bank customers, were reported dead.

The robbers numbering close to 30, blew up entrances into the banks in an operation which lasted for more than one hour.

The armed made away with millions of naira after shattering bank buildings, terrorising workers and customers in the vicinity.

Banks allegedly affected by the raids include Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, First Bank, Union Bank and Eco Bank.

The armed men reportedly blocked roads from both Ilorin and Oshogbo and entered Owode Police Station in the metropolis.
