Breaking: Senate suspends Omo-Agege for 90 days, disbands Buhari support group in the House

- The Senate suspended Ovie Omo-Agege, an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker for 90 days

- The suspension came as a result of Omo-Agege's opposition to the elections reordering bill

The Senate has suspended Ovie Omo-Agege, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator from Delta state, for 90 legislative days.

The upper legislative chamber took the decision after it considered a report by its ethics committee, The Cable reports.

The committee had recommended that the senator be suspended for 181 days but the senate reduced it after pleas from lawmakers. Omo-Agege was one of the senators who kicked against the election reordering bill.

Although, he apologised for his stand he still went to the court to get a restraining order against any move by the senate to suspend him.

In a related development, the Senate also disbanded the parliamentary support group for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group was chaired by Senator Abdullahi Adamu while Omo-Agege was the secretary. The group was made up of 11 members including the late Senator Ali Wakili.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ovie Omo-Agege, the senator representing Delta central, had sued the Senate to put an end to his coming before the committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions which arose because of his views on the amendment of the Electoral Act. Omo-Agege was supposed to appear before Senator Samuel Anyanwu on Tuesday, March 27.
