Mohamed Salah set to face AS Roma in the Champions League semifinals

- Egypt forward Mohamed Salah is set to battle his former side AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League last four stage

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah set to face his former team when Liverpool face AS Roma in the semifinal stage of this year’s UEFA Champions League encounter later this month.

The Egyptian forward scored twice in the Red’s 5-1 victory over Manchester City in the quarterfinal of the competition to set up a meeting with the Italian Serie A side, who progressed on away goal rule.

Salah joined the Premier League side from the Stadio Olimpico outfit last summer in a five year deal valued at £34 million, and he has scored 39 goals in all competitions so far.

However, having learnt about their parings for the next stage of the competition, the Italian outfit Italians took to social media to post a classy reaction to being drawn against their former talisman.

The former Chelsea forward scored 34 goals during his two-year reign in Rome, impressing on loan from Chelsea before making a permanent £12 million move in 2016.

Liverpool went for him after his impressive goal record at the club and their decision has paid off so far, as he has scored nine Champions League goals in 12 appearances for the Reds.

"I had a great two years in Rome. The fans are unbelievable - they always showed me love and respect." Salah said on social media.

However, his old employers clearly hold a place in his heart as he responded to their social media post shortly after.

Salah helped Egypt secure their first FIFA World Cup ticket since 1990 and has been impressive for Liverpool in his first season.

He was crowned CAF African best player of the year, and also won the BBC player of the year late last year.
