Nigeria's Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde picked up a cash prize of N1million after emerging the best boxer at the 14th edition of the GOtv Boxing Night held inside the Indoor Sports Hall, National stadium, Lagos on Saturday, April 14.
Of the 14 boxers on the night, Babatunde showed great boxing skills to secure a technical knockout win against Djossou Agoy Basile of Benin Republic.
With his victory, Babatunde became the new West African Boxing Union (WABU) Welterweight champion. He was also awarded N1million and the Mojisola Ogunsanya trophy for his effort.
In another international title bout, Nigeria’s Waheed “Skoro” Usman became the new Africa Boxing Union (ABU) featherweight champion after defeating Kenya’s Michael “Shaka” Nyawade via technical knockout in round 10 of their 12 round contest.
Usman knocked out his Kenyan opponent on three different occasions before he was declared winner via technical knockout in 10th round.
In the national lightweight title fight, best boxer at the last edition, Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu secured a technical knockout win in round seven against Kehinde “Ijoba” Badmus to claim the title.
And in the national lightweight challenge fight, Oto Joseph overcame Prince “Lion” Nwoye via unanimous decision which was greeted with extreme repugnance by the crowd.
In other bouts, Abiodun Affini defeated Razak Ramon while Chukwuebuka Ezeudo defeated Semiu Olapade and Majesty Maduka lost to Sulaimon Adeosun.
