Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly planning to make a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer.

The Spanish born tactician, who is close to claiming his first Premier League title in his second season at the Etihad Stadium, wants to reunite with the player he signed for the Allianz Arena side.

Having suffered three straight defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United in the past week, the Citizens boss is already planning for life after David Silva, who might not be able to play high intensity game next season.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail claims City boss signed Alcantara for Bayern from Barcelona in the summer of 2013, and the Spaniard has become one of the key players for the Bavarians.

The 27-year-old has been impressive for the German champions over the last few years after recovering from a serious knee injury that cost him his place at the 2014 World Cup.

However, with a new manager taking over from Jupp Henchens next season, the midfielder might fancy the chance of teaming up with his former manager – this time at the Etihad Stadium.

Alcantara played under Guardiola at Barcelona between 2013, before joining his coach once again at the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2013.

And he has since then won four German Bundesliga titles in the space of five years, flanked by two DFB Pokal cup.

Before moving to Germany, the former Spanish U21 player won four La Liga titles, two UEFA Champions Leagues and three UEFA Super Cup trophies, flanked by several other domestic titles.

He has a contract with the German club until the summer of 2021, but with his club’s failure to offer him contract extension, he might be considering to reunite with his former boss at Manchester City this summer.
