- President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday, April 16, declared intention to seek re-election in 2019
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) and a presidential aspirant of the party, Charles Udeogaranya on Monday, April 16, appealed to members of the party and Nigerians in general who are disturbed by the news of President Buhari’s declaration to seek re-election, not to worry.
Vanguard reports that Udeogaranya expressed confidence in God that he would beat every opponent and obstacle that may come along the path of his electoral victory at the presidential primaries and the general elections.
NAIJ.com gathered that Udeogaranya said: “I strongly believe that President Buhari and all other aspirants stand no chance in building a better Nigeria more than I can and therefore, I plead with all well meaning Nigerians to support my candidacy, which represents the good will of God to make Nigeria a better nation.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that a presidential aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC), SKC Ogbonnia, welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration to seek a second term and challenged him to a debate on their respective visions for the country.
It was reported that Ogbonnia, who last November became the first APC member to openly declared his interest in the presidency, in a statement said Buhari’s decision to seek a second term and the accompanying internal challenge in the APC could help deepen the country’s democracy.
