Arsene Wenger welcomes 4 key players back for Atletico Madrid Europa clash

- The Gunners will host Atletico Madrid on Thursday, April 26, for their Europa League semi final clash at the Emirates Stadium

- Arsenal beat CSKA Moscow to progress to the last four stage of the competition

- Wilshere, Ramsey, and Ospina have returned to training ahead of the must win game for the north Londoners

Premier League campaigners Arsenal are expected to have four key players back for their Europa League semi final clash against Atletico Madrid on Thursday, April 19.

The Gunners reach the last four stage of the championship after beating Russian side CSKA Moscow 6-3 on aggregate at the quarterfinal stage of the championship.

However, the north Londoners seven-match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end when they lost 2-1 to Newcastle United in the English topflight encounter over the weekend.

That is not expected to affect them as players like Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, and David Ospina are back for their meeting against Diego Simeone’s side at the Emirates Stadium next week.

Winning the title remains Arsene Wenger’s only hope of returning to the UEFA Champions League next season as they are way beyond finishing among the top four teams this season.

When the draws for this stage of the tournament was made, Arsenal fans were said to be unhappy with the team they were paired with, but the return of these players will give them some confidence over their team.

The trio have returned to training and are in line to face Atletico in just over a week, but it is not sure if Ospina will be selected for the game over experienced Petr Cech against Atletico.

Meanwhile, his return will give the Gunners greater options as they look to claim their first European trophy under Wenger.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan might get a chance to feature for the Gunners in the semifinal clash despite fears that his recent knee injury would cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Laurent Koscielny, meanwhile, is expected to be rested on Sunday for the visit of the Hammers as the Frenchman continues to deal with a chronic Achilles problem which has limited his game time.

Arsenal are 6th on the EPL table with 54 points from 33 league games and their chances of playing in any of the European competitions are looking very bleak.

They will stand a chance to feature in UEFA’s top championship next season if they win this year’s Europa League cup, but they must do that by first beating their Spanish League opponents.

Should they win the European tournament this term, it will be their first ever continental title in modern day football.

While they last won silverware in the 2016-17 after beating Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup final at Wembley to become the first team to record 13 FA Cup triumphs in the history of the competition.
