- Antonio Conte has explained why Rudiger was dropped against Southampton
- The Italian tactician stated that the German was not included due to tactical reasons
- Chelsea went ahead to win the match for them to maintain fifth position on the EPL table
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has stated clearly that he has no issue with star defender Antonio Rudiger after he was dropped in their last game.
There were reports that the German international was dropped against Southampton because he attacked Antonio Conte prior to the match.
But Antonio Conte has cleared the air on the issue claiming that Antonio Rudiger never said anything wrong.
Conte confirmed this via an official tweet from Chelsea stressing that the 25-year-old former Roma star was dropped because of tactical reasons.
Chelsea however came back to win the match against Southampton, but the Blues have slim hope of finishing among the top four at the end of the season.
They currently occupy fifth position on the Premier League standings and they are eight points behind fourth placed Tottenham with five games to the end of the season.
Chelsea's only hope of winning a title this season is now in the English FA Cup where they will face Southampton in the last four.
