Nigeria international Obafemi Martins has taken time out to shower encomiums on his family on his Instagram handle.
The 33-year-old is currently recovering from a broken muscle fibre he suffered from Shanghai Shenhua’s 2-2 draw against Kashima Antlers earlier this month.
Four days after he grabbed a hatrick in his side’s 4-2 win over Hebei CFFC in the Chinese Super League late last month.
And in the picture which was posted earlier today, Martins was flanked by his son and the out-of-favour Super Eagles striker was flanked by his son.
The former Seattle Sounders striker said in an accompanying message ‘La familia always’ which means ‘the family always.
Martins made his debut for his country’s national team in 2004 and scored 18 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.
Martins joined the Chinese Super League side in 2016 from Sounders in a £2.43 million deal and he has scored 19 goals from 40 league matches for the club.
He also spent three years at the Major League soccer and made his impact felt by scoring 40 goals from 72 games – a performance that made the Chinese side scramble for his signature.
Martins won the Italian league title in the 2005-06 season with Inter Milan, and also led Shanghai Shenhua to the Chinese FA Cup in 2017.
The Nigerian forward featured for Premier League side Newcastle United between 2006 and 2009, and moved to Rubin Kazan in 2010 where he won the Russian Super Cup in 2012.
