The leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives have held a meeting over the invasion of the upper chamber and snatching of its mace by suspected thugs.
The Punch reports that the meeting which took place on Monday night, April 23, had in attendance president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu and deputy speaker, Lasun Yusuf.
The newspaper stated that journalist were not allowed to cover the meeting which held at Saraki’s Maitama, Abuja, residence from at 8pm to 11.30pm.
A source privy to the meeting disclosed that the issues discussed by the lawmakers revolved around the stolen mace and the activities of the pro-President Muhammadu Buhari’s senators.
“I cannot give you the details until I see my boss and that will be tomorrow (Tuesday)," the source who is one of the aides to the Senate president said.
Meanwhile, the representative of Kogi west district and committee chairman on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Senate, Dino Melaye, has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that it received information that Melaye whose residence was besieged on Monday, April 23, by security agents was again arrested early Tuesday, April 24, and moved to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) headquarters, Guzape, Abuja, which Vanguard says is located just opposite the old Central Bank of Nigeria junction along the area 1 expressway.
Vanguard further reports that Melaye spoke in a telephone conversation sounding rattled, as background conversation suggested a struggle between him and some of the operatives after which his mobile lines were switched off.
