Again, herdsmen reportedly kill 7 IDPs in Nasarawa fresh attack

- Suspected herdsmen have reportedly attacked Nasarawa state again

- The suspects were said to have killed seven of the Internally Displaced Persons in the state

- The president of the Tiv youth organisation, comrade Peter Ahemba has confirmed the incident

Suspected herdsmen have reportedly unleashed terror on Tiv farmers at Ihuman village in Awe local government area of Nasarawa state killing seven of the Internally Displaced Persons.

The nation reports that the killers were said to have on Tuesday, April 24, started shooting sporadically at helpless villagers.

NAIJ.com gathered that the victims, who were taking refuge at Kange, went to get foodstuff from their homes when the attackers emerged from the bush and opened fire on them.

According to a resident known as Philip Dodo who escaped explained that three of his relatives were still missing.

On the part of pesident of the Tiv youth organisation comrade Peter Ahemba, who confirmed the incident, said it was unfortunate that a particular ethnic nationality could be targeted for extermination without hindrance.

Ahemba said: “For us the indigenous Tiv people of Nasarawa state, we have no any other place to run to; that is why we continuously count on Governor Tanko Al-Makura for a solution to this unfortunate development.

“We appreciate efforts by the government and other stakeholders towards bringing lasting peace to our communities, but we can only stop crying to the authorities when a solution is finally found.”

Police spokesman John Kennedy, however, declared that he had not been informed about the incident.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the police command in Nasarawa state confirmed five persons killed in a fresh attack on Kadarko village and environs in Obi local government area, on Tuesday, April 10. Kennedy Idirisu, the command’s spokesman.

The attackers invaded the village at night and shot everyone on sight. He said the command had deployed adequate personnel to quell the attacks, adding that relative normalcy had returned to the area.

He said that the command had arrested three suspects in connection with the Kadarko attacks, but explained that the situation was “a bit tense”.
