UEFA charge Bayern Munich with pitch invasion and using offensive banners

German champions Bayern Munich have been charged by UEFA after fans ran into the pitch after the referee ended their Champions League semi final match against Real Madrid.

The Bavarians have also been charged for using an offensive banner which was displayed at the Allianz Arena.

One of the pitch invaders grabbed the shirt of Frank Ribery who lost a couple chances in the match while others took a selfie with Madrid players after the final whistle.

The European governing body have made an announcement that the case will be dealt with on Thursday, May, 31.

In the keenly contested match Real were the more clinical side in terms of finishing as they ran away with a 2-1 victory despite creating few chances.

Joshua Kimmich had put Bayern ahead after a swift counter attack from the goalkeeper as James Rodriguez gave the final pass to the youngster who finished in style.

But Zinedine Zidane's side responded a minute before half time as Marcelo rifled in a shot into to the left corner to level matters.

Bayern piled the pressure on the defending champions as chances came begging but to no avail.

Marco Asensio scored the winner after Rafinha made a defensive blunder that led to a Madrid counter and Vasquez provided the assist for the 22-year-old who made no mistake.

The second leg will be played next Tuesday at the Bernabeu and it is expected to be another blockbuster encounter between the heavyweights.

Real are chasing another record-breaking Champions League success in a third straight season in the competition.
