Police arrest Nigerian man who allegedly threatened to kidnap Indian ex-boss
- The police has arrested a man for threatening to kidnap his former boss
- Victor Joseph had in a text message asked his former boss, Piush Kumar, an Indian, to send money to his account or risk being kidnapped
- Following fear over the text message Kumar petitioned the assistant inspector general of police in charge of Zone 2 command
A Nigerian man, Victor Joseph, has been arrested by the zone 2 police command for allegedly threatening to kidnap his former Indian boss, Piush Kumar.
Joseph, the police said, had sent text messages to Kumar threatening to abduct him if a certain amount was not paid into his bank account.
Punch reports that Kumar who was scared by Joseph's messages petitioned the assistant inspector general of police in zone 2.
It was gathered that the AIG, Adamu Ibrahim, further directed operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the command to investigate the case after receiving the petition. The operatives linking the text messages to Joseph arrested him on Thursday, April 19, at the Oshodi area of Lagos.

Joseph later confessed to committing the crime.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Zone police command, Dolapo Badmos said: “The suspect before the incident was working for the Indian national, who is an employee of the Stallion Group of Company.
"He was sacked on February 26, 2012, which did not go down well with the suspect. He then disguised, using strange telephone numbers, and threatening Piush Kumar through text messages.
"Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have, in connivance with some other persons, been the brains behind the threats. He stated that since his sacking, he was not happy with his employer and that he had been looking for an opportunity to deal with him. The suspect has since been pleading for forgiveness."

She also said the suspect would be charged to court at the completion of the investigation by the command.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the court had ordered the police to produce the brother to the notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumem Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans.
The in its ruling said Okwuchukwu Obiechina must be produced by the Nigeria police to prove why the order for his immediate release should not be made
The order followed an ex parte application seeking an order to mandate the police to free Obiechina.
