Philippe Coutinho unhappy with decision to join Barcelona in January

- Coutinho feels he should have waited till the end of this season before joining Barcelona

- The 25-year-old sealed a five-year deal to join the Catalan in a £142m but could not play for them in the Champions League after being cup tied with his former club

- He however felt he could have written his name in the Champions League record books had he stayed back for another six months

- Meanwhile, Liverpool are through to the final of this year's UEFA organised competition and will face Real Madrid later this month

Brazil international Philippe Coutinho is reportedly regretting his decisions to leave Liverpool during the winter transfer window earlier this year.

The 25-year-old sealed a £142 million deal with Barcelona in January, but has only featured for them in domestic competitions since he joined them.

However, with his former team now in the Champions League final after beating Roma 7-6 on aggregate, the attacker was hoping he had stayed until the end of the season before making the switch.

Coutinho became cup tied after featuring for Jurgen Klopp’s side in UEFA’s top tier competition in the first half of the season, while the Catalans failed to progress beyond the quarterfinals after losing to Roma.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the midfielder wished he had stayed at Anfield until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the La Liga champions are livid with the player for expressing his displeasure, saying his reaction is damaging to the club’s image.

The Camp Nou outfit also claim their reputation will be question should their arch rivals, Real Madrid win their third straight Champions League wins this month.

Since he joined the team in January, he has helped them clinch a double so far, while they remain unbeaten in the league so far this season.

The former Inter Milan man admitted that if he had stayed a little longer at Anfield, he would have had the chance to write his name in the history books in a Champions League final.

With Coutinho’s departure from the club, a lot felt Liverpool would struggle but Mhamed Salah’s intervention has kept the Reds going, as they seem not to miss their talisman at all.

The Egyptian international has been impressive – scoring an incredible 43 goals in all competitions, while qualifying his side for the Champions League final for the first time in 11 years.

Barely one season into his contract at Liverpool, he has won the PFA Player of the Year and the Writers player of the year.

He is also on the verge of winning the Premier League highest goal scorer as he currently leads with 31 goals in 34 games.

With 11 goals in 14 matches, Salah has helped Liverpool knock Porto, Manchester City and Roma out of the Champions League, and they will face Real Madrid in the final later this month.
