Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has said that he is will be fit for the World Cup after missing the Gunners 5-0 thumping of Burnley at the Emirates.

The Germany international missed Arsene Wenger's last match at the Emirates following a back injury.

But the 29-year-old took to his Instagram handle to dismiss rumours he would not be fit for the World Cup in Russia.

He said: “It is a pity I missed yesterday's match with my back injury. It'll need some time but I'm sure I'll fully recover in time for the World…”

The ex-Real Madrid star who was play below par as Arsenal were knocked out of the Europa League by Atletico Madrid will miss thier last game of the season.

And he came under heavy criticisms for being anonymous in the match from Gunners legend Martin Keown.

Ozil watched the match from the sidelines with injured teammate Mohammed Elneny and was glad to honour Wenger's last game at their home ground.

The former Werder Bremen player has been slowed down with injury this season but he signed a contract extension for the next three seasons last December.

Ozil has made 24 Premier League appearances for the Gunners this season scoring four goals in the process.

Since his arrival at Arsenal, Ozil has only won two FA Cup trophies with the London club, but has a World Cup medal under his belt with Germany in 2014.
