FG fights corruption without any serious conviction - Tunde Bakare alleges

- Tunde Bakare has faulted the presidency's inability to deliver on promises made during the President Muhammadu Buhari-led campaign

- Bakare said the present administration has not done enough in fighting corruption across the country

- He said that even outside the confines of politics, he still has a role to play in the leadership of the country

Tunde Bakare, the senior pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, has said that the presidency after three years has not produced any convincing result due to its approach to fighting corruption.

Bakare also said that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had not taken a holistic position in its fight against corruption. He said this on Monday, May 7 in a interview conducted by Channels TV.

He pointed out that while cases of corruption about some accused persons have been treated with partial justice, some other individuals have been wrongly dealt with.

Bakare said: “All I hear today is corruption is fighting back. It’s a thing of deep concern for me that up till this hour, three years after, except the likes of Sambo Dasuki who had been detained more or less forever for whatever reasons, I have not seen any serious conviction.

“I have seen pats on the back via ‘return some and leave the rest’ and I have seen sensationalism. If we turn the searchlight into the body polity in Nigeria, it will not be absolutely out of place to say the synonym for politics in Nigeria is banditry, regardless of who is in power.”

Concerning the incessant killings in the country especially in Benue state, Bakare faulted the inability of the federal government to frontally attack armed herdsmen in Nigeria and stop their activities. Bakare said: “These attacks have shown that the country needs to renegotiate its union.”

The cleric who made the disclosure recently during a sermon, said once the president is out, another tender plant will replace him.
