PDP primary: Olujimi steps down for Adeyeye

- Abiodun Olujimi, an aspirant in the PDP governorship primary election in Ekiti state, has stepped down for Dayo Adeyeye, a former minister

- Earlier, the state national secretariat of the PDP had disqualified appointees of Governor Ayo Fayose from voting at the exercise

- The list of delegates released by the party’s signed by the national organising secretary Chris Akobundu gave the indication that appointees of governor Fayose have been disqualified

The lawmaker representing Ekiti south in the national assembly, Senator Abiodun Olujimi stepped down for the immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dayo Adeyeye, in the ongoing primary election of the party in Ekiti state.

Following Senator Olujimi’s withdrawal from the race on Tuesday, Adeyeye, who is also a former minister of works, is left to compete with the third aspirant and present deputy governor of the state, Kolapo Ishola.

The primary election is being conducted across all the 26 local government areas of the state amid heavy security presence.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that People’s Democratic Party in Ekiti state disqualified appointees of Governor Ayo Fayose from voting at the governorship primary in the state.

The national organising secretary, Chris Akobundu (retd), has excluded the appointees in the list of delegates.

The decision was reached by the national working committee following its meeting with the Ekiti PDP peace and reconciliation committee, led by former senate president, David Mark.

A copy of the delegates showed that only serving and former elected officials still in the camp of Fayose will have the right to vote at the shadow election.
