- United boss Mourinho is hoping to strengthen his right back position
- Since replacing Louis van Gaal in 2016, Mourinho has almost exclusively depended on stand-in skipper Antonio Valencia at right-back
Premier League giant, Manchester United are ready to trigger the £44m release clause of Napoli ace Elseid Hysaj’s this summer.
United boss, Jose Mourinho, has made signing a new right-back one of his top priorities in the transfer window.
And, with Matteo Darmian almost certain to join Serie A giants Juventus, that need is intensifying.
The 24-year-old Hysaj has established himself as one of the best right-backs in Europe over the past few seasons, and has once again enjoyed a superb campaign.
Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri who believes the release clause for his Albanian is ridiculously low has been at loggerheads with club president Aurelio Di Laurentiis on the issue.
As he believes that £44m is a snip for some of the top clubs in Europe to pay for a world class fullback.
And Hysaj is likely to be the first of several of Napoli’s impressive stars to leave this summer after running Juventus so close for the title in Serie A.
Since replacing Louis van Gaal in 2016, Mourinho has almost exclusively depended on stand-in skipper Antonio Valencia at right-back.
However, with the Ecuadorian turning 33 in August, the United boss is looking for a more long-term option.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Chelsea are leading other Premier League clubs for the signature of Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj.
The 24-year-old has bee getting interest from Europe's elite club including Manchester United and Liverpool.
The Albanian international has a £43.72m release clause and the Blues are reportedly the closest to sealing the deal for the full-back.
