- Abe urged the president to prevail on the party to obey the court orders
- The senator's call came after hoodlums attacked the Rivers state high court sitting in Port Harcourt
Senator Magnus Abe, representing Rivers Southeast, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order members of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to obey court order to guarantee the future of the party.
Vanguard reports that Abe made the call on Monday, May 14, lamenting a situation where the party defied a court order and accusing the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of jeopardising President Buhari's reelection in 2019.
Recall that some hoodlums recently attacked the Rivers state high court sitting in Port Harcourt, an attack that the Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen, described as putting democracy of the nation under threat.
Abe, in company of Senator Wilson Ake, Chidi Wihioka, representing Ikwerre/ Emohua Federal Constituency and Maurice Pronen, Khana/ Gokana Federal Constituency said the APC must learn to live up to Buhari's values or destroy the soul of the party.
He said: “I respectfully call on our president not to surrender our nation to men without conscience. This party must distance itself from the show of shame that is currently going on in Rivers State.
“The Judiciary remains the last hope of man, and our Judges and Judicial Officers are called upon to remain true to their Oath of Office. They must remain focused, resolute, and courageous, regardless of the effort at intimidating them.”

An eye witness who chose to be anonymous, recently gave an account of what she witnessed in the violence that characterised the party's ward congresses in the state. According to her, the shoot out witnessed in a Rivers state High Court was allegedly masterminded by a combination of thugs supported by Senator Magnus Abe and River state governor, Nyesom Wike.
There are speculations that Senator Abe masterminded the crisis orchestrated by thugs to pave a way to get the judgement which, many accuse him of attempting to stop the process of the ongoing primaries.
