One Halima, a kidnapped victim was rescued by the troops of 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army tagged ‘Corridor 1 of operations IDON RAINI’ in Zamfara state.
Halima regained freedom on Monday evening, May 15, after the army engaged bandits in a shootout between Dansadau and Gidan Kawoje village in Maru local government area of the state.
Punch reports that one of suspected bandits was killed by the troops during the gun battle while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
According to a statement released by the army spokesman in Sokoto, Major Clement Abiade.
The statement: “Also, one Halima, a kidnapped victim was rescued by the troops. Items recovered include one motorcycle and a mobile phone during the search.”

Abiade, however, asked residents of Maru and environs to be vigilant and report any suspect(s) with a gunshot wound to relevant security outfits.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that an aged man was rescued by a brave soldier during a gunfight between troops of the army and Boko Haram terrorists.
This was contained in a statement by Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu on Monday, May 14.
The incident happened in Gobara village in Borno state where a platoon commander of the 192 Battalion, Lieutenant Asajwun Ahmadu, reportedly carried the old man on his shoulder in rescue. Two terrorists were killed while their weapons were recovered.
