Arsenal set to relaunch £3m Jonny Evans bid following West Brom's relegation

- Premier League giant, Arsenal, following the relegation of West Brom to the Championship will try to bag a £3m move for Jonny Evans

- Evans was linked with a move to Arsenal and Man City last summer

- But the Gunners are believed to have rekindled their interest in the Irish defender

Premier League giant, Arsenal, following the relegation of West Brom to the Championship will try to bag a £3m move for Jonny Evans, according to reports.

The Irish defender was linked to the Gunners and Manchester City last summer and again in January but went down, eventually, with Darren Moore’s ship.

The Mirror reports that Arsenal is remains interested in Evans despite the departure of Arsene Wenger, especially with Laurent Koscielny out until at least Christmas with an Achilles injury.

Evans caused a stir among observers on the last day of the season by allegedly refusing to play in the club’s final top-flight match via text message.

But the Baggies made it clear that the centre-back had permission to miss the Crystal Palace clash.

Albion said Evans was excused after full and amicable conversations with Moore who was perfectly happy with the agreement.

Albion believe suggestions that Evans sent a text saying he would not be showing up for the trip to South London is an unfair slur on the player.

Evans trained up until Friday but was unavailable for the weekend.

The former Man United defender was meant to be on the bench at Selhurst Park but his position was filled by 38-year-old Gareth McAuley, who was an unused substitute.

Legit.ng previously reported that Manchester City have been told they will have to pay £23.5 million if they want to land their target Johnny Evans in this transfer window.

The Premier League leaders are desperate to beef up their backline this summer and have been linked with several top defenders including West Brom's Jonny Evans.

The former Manchester United defender has impressed City boss and he sees him as a quality defender to deputize for injury prone Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
