Chinyere Ebere, a 19-year-old secondary school leaver, has been stabbed to death in the Ijoka area of Akure, Ondo state capital, by 25-year-old Saliu Oladayo for reportedly turning down his love advances.
According to a police source, the suspect stabbed the girl in her chest and other parts of her body following an argument.

It was gathered by Vanguard that Oladayo had always complained about Ebere's attitude towards him, adding that she insulted him, referring to him as a lazy man and a misfit.
The police source reported: “Both of them were in the house on the fateful day when an argument ensued between them, leading to a fight, which led the man to stab the girl on her chest and other parts of her body.”
Police source revealed that Ebere and the suspect, who was presumed to be her boyfriend, was in the house when an argument started, which led to the unfortunate incident.
Some neighbours, who rushed to the scene, met her in the pool of her blood and alerted the police. It was learned that efforts to save her life were unsuccessful, as she reportedly died before she could be taken to the hospital and before the arrival of the policemen from the Oke Aro Division.
Speaking with newsmen, mother of the deceased, Lovely, said: "She was in her shop when a neighbour called her that her daughter, who just finished her secondary school, was allegedly stabbed by a young man."
She said: “My daughter came back from where she went to write her WAEC yesterday. I observed some changes in her, which made me beat her up before the unfortunate incident.”
Concerning the incident, Femi Joseph, the police spokesperson in the remarked: “The suspect was asking the girl to date him which she refused, and was said to have publicly embarrassed the suspect. That infuriated the suspect who allegedly took a knife and stabbed the girl to death.”
Joseph stated that the Oladayo had been arrested and is being detained at “B” Division police station and would soon be arraigned for murder after investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that a heartbroken man had taken to his Facebook to share how the lady he intended to marry absconded after he paid her bride price.
The man identified as Prince Chika Eugene alleged that his bride-to-be Uchechi Nnadiekwe and his father deceived him into performing the traditional rites of their marriage only for him to find out she married another man who was based in Asia.
