Nigeria international Bryan Idowu is now expected to miss Super Eagles' farewell friendly match against DR Congo on Monday, May 28, in Port Harcourt.
This is as a result of the FIFA’s new rule for players listed to play at the 21st World Cup starting next month in Russia according to the report bt Complete Sports.
FIFA are said to have told all 32 participating teams to ensure players listed for the World Cup observe a 10-day rest after their last game of the season as a means of ensuring they stay fresh.
Bryan Idowu will play for his club Amkar Perm on Sunday, May 20, to play hosts FC Tambov in the second leg of the Russia Premier League qualification play-offs.
Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi is already out of the DR Congo game as he will be playing with his Chinese side on Friday, while Odion Ighalo will play on Sunday also in China.
Nigeria will face DR Congo at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt which will be a farewell match before they face England in their last friendly game.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that a prestige friendly match between the Super Eagles and England’s Three Lions will take place at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
The match will be only the third between both countries at senior level and will serve as the Super Eagles’ final preparatory game for the FIFA World Cup finals in Russia with their first match against Croatia in Kaliningrad coming exactly two weeks after.
