Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was available to celebrate his team after winning this year’s FA Cup at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, May 19.

However, the Russian billionaire couldn’t make it to the stadium for the game due to the authority’s failure to renew his British visa in time.

According to Mirror citing Russian media site The Bell, Abramovich's visa expired close tone month ago and he has so far not been granted another one.

The same publication claims the Home Office are not believed to have refused this application, which can take up to 12 weeks. Meanwhile, BBC claims it was 'taking a little longer than usual'.

This was backed up by the Financial Times who claim three sources close to the billionaire have confirmed that he is still waiting,

It was reported that his application is going through the normal process, only that it was taking longer than usual to renew it without offering any explanation.'

Abramovich, who has previously attempted to obtain a British passport, received a residence permit in Jersey earlier this year, according to the Jersey Evening Post.

Last week, Abramovich was named the 13th richest person on the Sunday Times Rich List - boasting an eye-watering £9.3billion.
