Ernesto Valverde was pleased for the club hero to be able to sign off with a win in front of his home fans and Iniesta handing the captain's hand-band over to Messi was somewhat a symbolic gesture.

"We wanted to compete and win, but today was Andres' day and the crowd made it special," Valverde said.
