An associate of the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has emerged as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state.
Ojukaye Amachree emerged state chapter chairman of the party during the state congresses on Monday, May 21.
Vanguard reports that the congresses of the APC in the state was scheduled to take place today, around 6am at the Elekahia Town Hall in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that participants who turned out en masse despite the timing supported Amachree, a former local government chairman of Asari-Toru in the state.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that some aide of the Rivers state governor, Nyesome Wike, allegedly met with Senator Magnus Abe after a controversy that rocked the APC in the state.
NAIJ.com gathered that the there is the possibility that the Senator might be on his way out of the APC after controversies that rocked the its ward and local government congresses.
However, while the rumour gains ground in the state, Abe has consistently denied any plan to defect from the APC.
