Senator Biodun Olujimi has faulted the selection of Kolapo Olusola as the Ekiti governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the state governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The senator representing Ekiti south senatorial district said Fayose’s decision has prompted members of the PDP to start decamping to opposition parties in Ekiti state ahead of the July 14 governorship poll, The New Telegraph reports.

She described Fayose’s selection of Kolapo Olusola as a display of a one-man dictatorship, oppression, hopelessness and totalitarianism in Ekiti PDP.

Olujimi said: “We abhor and shall resist all forms of threat, oppression, victimization and humiliation. We shall remain resolute, fearless and courageous in our demand for internal democracy, justice, rule of law, fairness and equity within the PDP in achieving the ideals, aims and objectives which Senator Olujimi stands for.

“We separated the real, fearless PDP owners from the coerced, appointed delegates who voted against their conscience for fear of being removed as councilors, council chairmen and vice chairmen, party executives and honorable members by their sole appointer and sole administrator as against the PDP constitution (as amended in 2017).

“It is saddening to note that, with the exception of the three-man ad hoc delegates who were elect ed at their various wards, all others were appointed at the pavilion inside the Government House on the mantra that ‘wherever I go, you follow.’ We all forgot that Ekiti voters were the heroes of 16-0 in the 2014 election and not one man."

Meanwhile, stakeholders of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the southeast on Sunday, May 20 voiced their joy at the adoption of the party by former head of state, Olusegun Obasanjo and members of his Coalition of National Movement (CNM).

They promised party members that the ADC would enthrone a new generation of Nigerian leaders in 2019, Vanguard reports.

The stakeholders, in a communique issued after their meeting, vowed that the trust placed on ADC by Obasanjo and his group would yield good dividends, assuring that their commitment and passion were in alignment with the common good of Nigerians.
