- Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, has urged his former club not to fear Cristiano Ronaldo
- Souness believes that CR7 spends most of his time on the ground in the pitch
- And he believes the Portugal captain has gone past his glory days
Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, has urged his former club not to fear Cristiano Ronaldo, because the Portugal captain spends most of his time on his bum.
The Reds will come up against the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on Saturday night May 26 as they face Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
But Souness thinks the all time Real Madrid talisman is not the player he used to be in his early days.
“He spends a lot of time on his bum now, complaining he’s been fouled, and plays the width of the box," he said.
“He’s still capable of great things but, like Real, nowhere near where he was even 12 months ago.”
The 33-year-old Ronaldo has scored 45 goals this season including a stunning 15 in 12 in the Champions League.
He did struggle at the beginning of the season but has been on fire since the turn of the year.
Ronaldo returned on Saturday May 19 for the final game of the season after giving Madrid an injury scare by going off in the last Clasico.
There were fears he could miss the final but he allayed those by playing an hour against Villarreal in the 2-2 draw.
Real Madrid finished third, three points behind Atletico Madrid and 17 behind champions Barcelona.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly urged Los Blancos' chiefs not to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
The Spanish club are expected to bring fresh legs to the club this summer, and Poland international Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a transfer target.
But according to the report by Don Balon, Cristiano Ronaldo feels Robert Lewandowski is too old to be considered a long-term investment.
