Barcelona left back Jordi Alba is rooting for Liverpool to win this year’s UEFA Champions League.

The Premier League club battle defending champions Real Madrid in the final of this year’s edition of the competition in Kiev on Saturday, May 26.

Barca crashed out of the same championship at the quarterfinal stage following their 4-4 aggregate draw, but Roma progressed on away goal rule.

However, the Spaniard has revealed that he wants the Galacticos to lose the game despite his good relationship with some of the club’s players.

The 2010 World Cup winner said he would have preferred they crash out of the tournament before the final, however, he congratulated them for their feat.

Our relationship is a strange one because even though I get on perfectly with them all, I still want them to lose all of their games,’ Alba said.

“I congratulated them [on reaching the Champions League final] but I would have liked to not have to.”

Jurgen Klopp's men reached their first final of the competition since 2007 after beating Italian side Roma 7-6 on aggregate in the last four stage.

The last time they won the title was in 2005 when they came back to beat AC Milan at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

Though, they failed to advance beyond the last eight phase, the Catalans won the Spanish League – losing just one league game all season long.

Alba played an important role in the Blaugrana’s title triumph in the 2017-18 season.

When asked about the Real Madrid refusing to give them guard of honour, he said: “Their refusal to give us a guard of honour? It’s more to do with the media than the teams, but they will have their reasons for not doing it. We are still champions regardless.
