At 70, I won't be president if I were you - Customs CG tells Buhari

- The comptroller-general of the NCS Hameed Ali said if he were president Buhari, he won't be the country president at 70

- Ali said the president wants second term in office because of his love for the country

- The customs boss, however, supported the president's second term bid

The comptroller-general of the Nigeria Customs Service Hameed Ali on Tuesday, May 23, told President Muhammadu Buhari truth over his declaration for second term in office.

Daily Trust reports that Ali explained that if he were president Buhari, he would not be president of the country at 70.

NAIJ.com gathered that the customs boss made this known on Presidential Villa in Abuja when he led members of the Buhari Support Organization to a meeting with the president.

He, however, noted that his group was solidly in support of the president's second term bid because of the president's integrity, honesty and love for Nigeria.

According to him, "I've said it and I'll repeat it here President with all due respect, at 70 plus, with good retirement benefits and with your house in Daura, if I were you, I'd see no reason to be in this arena.

"But why are you here? It's because you love this great country. You left your comfort to serve Nigeria and that's why for those of us who love you for who you're said we must follow you and ensure that your second term in this country becomes a reality.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that A religious group United Christian Leaders Eagle Eye Forum turned down calls in some quarters especially from the governors of the APC urged President Buhari to run for a second term.

The group through its national chairman Pastor Aminchi Habu made its indifference known Thursday, April 5, during a press conference in Abuja.

Habu said the APC led-government has failed Nigerians going by its inability to solve the security challenges, youth unemployment issue, stabilize the economy and reduce poverty in the country.
