NiMet releases weather forecast for Thursday, May 24

- NiMet has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday, May 24

- Southern states would experience increased cloudiness with possibility of localised rain

- Northern states would experience cloudy to partly cloudy conditions morning hours

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday morning, May 24, with prospect of isolated thunderstorms over Jalingo, Mambila Plateau and Ibi.

NiMet’s weather outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Wednesday, May 23, also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 20 to 36 and 16 to 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, NAN reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that it added that localised thunderstorms were expected over places like Jos, Bauchi, Abuja, Kaduna and Lafia axis during the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience increased cloudiness with possibility of localised rain over the coastal cities and the inland areas of the south-east in the morning hours.

It also predicted localised rain showers over the region in the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures in the range of 30 to 36 and 20 to 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to NiMet, northern states would experience cloudy to partly cloudy conditions during the morning hours, with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 33 to 40 and 24 to 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“There are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over places like Maiduguri, Yola and Nguru axis during the afternoon and evening period.

“Cloudy conditions with prospects of isolated thunderstorms and rain showers are expected to prevail over the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicts.

NiMet previously predicted cloudy morning conditions over the central states of the country on Wednesday May 23 with prospects of localised thunderstorm over Yola, Jos, Lafia, Ibi, Makurdi and Abuja.

It added that localised thunderstorms were probable over Jalingo, Mambilla, Makurdi and Minna axis in the afternoon and evening hours.
