Presidential aide tackles Obasanjo over alleged misuse of $16bn power funds

The personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, has accused former president Olusegun Obasanjo of forming and leading a coalition of past corrupt leaders against the president.

Onochie, using her personal twitter account to tweet, claimed that Obasanjo has failed to answer a simple question posed by President Buhari. She added that the president inherited 'a nation in darkness' and Obasanjo is angry at Buhari's effort to fix Nigeria.

Onochie tweeted: "It's now a clear choice between Pres. Buhari & a coalition of past corrupt leaders coordinated by ex-pres Obasanjo. He failed to answer a simple question posed by our President who inherited a nation in darkness.

"Buhari is fixing Nigeria with improved power supply and OBJ is angry."

Some Nigerians reacted to the tweet, saying Obasanjo's performance exceeds that Buhari.

Onochie's tweet is coming after President Buhari, accused Obasanjo of wasting $16 billion on power without any positive result.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Nigeria's former president, Olusegun Obasanjo replied President Buhari over the allegation that $16 billion was wasted on power project during his administration.

President Buhari had made reference to the allegation while receiving a delegation of Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) at the presidential villa on Tuesday, May 22.
