The Plateau high court in Jos has granted bail to a former governor of the state, Senator Jonah Jang.
Justice D.D. Longi granted bail to Senator Jang and Yakubu Pam who are standing trial for alleged corruption. The court agreed to grant bail to the duo on the following conditions;
For Senator Jang, the court ruled that:
1. He must produce two (2) sureties, one must be a first class traditional ruler and the two (2) sureties must produce N100 million each and they must be within the jurisdiction of the court.
2. His international passport must be submitted to the court.
For Pam, the court ruled that
1. He must produce two (2) sureties and one must be a permanent secretary or equivalent to that position and they must produce N50 million each.
Meanwhile, supporters of the former governor have taken to major roads in the city to celebrate his bail.
The supporters were seen with posters of the senator and flags of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The senator representing Plateau North senatorial district, Jonah David Jang recently, reportedly paid off the outstanding electricity bills of Jos prison where he has been locked up since Wednesday, May 16.

Jang was remanded in prison after his arraignment at Plateau state high court last week Wednesday, May 16 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The senator is facing a twelve count charge over alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion during the last leg of his tenure as governor of Plateau state.
