Residence of ex-president Jonathan’s aide allegedly invaded by armed policemen

Some armed policemen allegedly invaded the home town of former special adviser to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Kingsley Kuku, The Punch reports
Legit.ng gathered that the house which is located in Arogbo community in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state was thoroughly searched by the armed policemen on Thursday, May 24, after the officers were shooting into the air.
The invasion by the policemen who were numbering over 20, caused panic among the residents of the town, as many of them ran away from the community during the shooting.

One of the residents said the police told them that they were searching for kidnappers.
He said: “They broke into every room and everywhere in Kuku’s house, claiming to search for kidnappers. After searching all the rooms in the house in commando-style, they left without finding anything incriminating or any kidnapper in the house."
“This is actually a worrisome and a condemnable act exhibited by the Police today. How can the Police, who are supposed to protect the citizens, be the source of panic in a peaceful community by storming a private residence without a search warrant, while shoot menacingly to scare away unharmed citizens, claiming to be in search of kidnappers? This shouldn’t be happening in a democratic state,” another source said.
Femi Joseph, the police public relations officer of the state command, in reaction to the development confirmed the incident saying, the policemen were from the the force headquarters, Abuja, ”on lawful mission.”
Legit.ng previously reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) told a Federal High Court in Lagos how Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, a former special assistant on domestic affairs to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, allegedly laundered several billions of naira for a former First Lady, Patience Jonathan.

Premium Times reports that the prosecution witness, Orji Chukwuma, an investigator with the anti-graft agency told the court that Dudafa’s alleged fraudulent activities was confirmed by Murtala Abubakar, a Bureau de Change operator, who admitted to have collected several millions in dollars from the suspect.
