A Nigerian soldier known as John Oden has taken to his Facebook page to express his immense gratitude to God for his protection from death and doom since 2014 in Maiduguri, Borno state capital
John Oden, a Nigerian soldier has shared on his Facebook page his immense and effusive gratitude and praise to God for protecting him throughout his stay in Maiduguri, Borno state capital since 2014 as a combatant military man.
Oden said that in times of fear and despondency, he found comfort in studying the word of God. He wrote on his Facebook page:"When I first entered Maiduguri in the early month of 2014, after my first three months, I asked myself if I can ever make it back home alive.
"But when I remembered that the thoughts God has for me were thoughts of good and not of evil, I said to myself, 'I know that I can make it, no matter what may come my way, my life is in his hands,
"And one day I asked God when he was going to set me free from this bloody land of Maiduguri. God took me to the book of Habakkuk 2: 1 - 3 and truly that appointed time has come and he has finally kept to his promises after four years and four months.
"Truly, no one is like my God, he is my healer, he is my keeper, my way maker, my life giver; he picked me from the miry clay and set my feet on the rock to stay. My promoter, my defender, great God, massive God.
"Only you have the final say and only what you say comes to pass. The all-wise God who swallows what swallow an elephant.
"You are the tiger that appears and put the antelope on a run. Who can say it when my God has not said it? Who tells my God what to do? Forever and ever you changeth not. You have no comparison.
"Glorious warrior, the God who says and does; even in your silence, you still have the final say, my source of confidence, the God that treads on thorns comfortably.
"You are the wind that cannot be trapped, the wealthiest God. Who can say when you are not done talking? Great God you have consoled my heart, the God that consoled the offended. See how you have set me free; see how you have delivered me. Thank you Jesus.
"Finally, God please guard and protect those I have left behind the same way you kept me alive for my family, mostly my lovely wife and mother. It was all like a dream but you made it come pass. For they have always made me their prayer point.
"God bless you all, because if not for you guys, hmm... only God knows where I would have been by now, but God used your prayers to set a poor boy like me free, safe and in sound health. Thank you all. God bless you all and your families, mostly to godfather Pastor Debola Ajagunna."
