Olukolu said they handed over the mace to the speaker, Alhaji Nasiru Abubakar Nono. Olukolu warned politicians to desist from criminal acts in the name of politics that will trigger mayhem.

They are: Abdullahi Abubakar Maiwanka, Walid Mohammed, Mohammed A Bello and Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim, all members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, the mace of the legislative arm of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) is missing as part of the council’s chamber was destroyed after a faceoff between its members on Thursday, May 24.

The missing mace led to crisis with calls for the impeachment of the speaker, Daniel Shanyibwa Michael, over alleged misconduct.

The deputy speaker, Haruna Musa Saidu, alleged that the speaker and the sergeant at arms left the chamber with the mace. The motion for the impeachment of the speaker was moved by the House majority leader, Yusuf Tahir Kadir at a recent sitting.

Kadir said the speaker abused office by taking decision without consulting the members, an act which he described as being equal to abuse of privilege.
