Salah has set a record in terms of goals in a Premier League season, netting 32 in 36 appearances, and it is a situation he says he thrives upon.

“I feel great about the numbers,” he told BT Sport. “Everyone is talking about Ronaldo and Messi because they’ve been at that level of 15/13 years so I’m proud to see myself compared to them.”

The former Chelsea star has stated that the clash in Kiev is little more than a duel between himself and Ronaldo as players are both firmly in contention to win the Ballon d’Or.

“It’s the final game, it’s not about Salah or Ronaldo, it’s about the clubs,” he pointed out.

“I want to make everyone proud, I want to make everyone in the city happy, in Egypt, over the world. I just need to think about the game, nothing else, just do my job.”

On the other hand, Ronaldo, argued that he is “completely different” to Salah and should, therefore, not be compared to him.
